What do these funny fingers mean?
There's no magic to this. It's just what your computer does every day: computations with binary digits. And that's quite easy. Each finger has its own meaning:
The thumb means "one".
The forefinger means "two".
The middle finger means "four".
The ring finger means "eight".
The pinkie means "sixteen".
Any combination of these means the sum of them. E. g., thumb plus middle finger means 1 + 4 = 5, forefinger plus middle finger plus pinkie means 2 + 4 + 16 = 22. No fingers means zero. All fingers means 1 + 2 + 4 + 8 + 16 = 31.
If there are two hands, then the fingers of the left hand (from thumb to pinkie) mean 32, 64, 128, 256, and 512.
